For Kenzie Morrison, winning is in his blood. It’s that blood, that propelled him into the fight game to begin with.
Since a young age, Kenzie Morrison has been a fighter. He would need to be, being the son of former world champion Tommy Morrison. Morrison is a former heavyweight champion notable for defeating the likes of George Foreman, and Donavan Ruddock among others. Sadly, the elder Morrison would pass away in 2013 due to complications from AIDS, a disease that plagued Morrison and ended his career a mere months before a supposed showdown with Mike Tyson.
However despite his tragic death he left an amazing legacy behind, and it’s a legacy that Kenzie Morrison is looking to pick right up on. Making his debut in 2014, Morrison is currently 16 fights into his professional boxing career and is a stellar 14-0-2. One of those draws was against Aaron Chavers, who Morrison would defeat in a rematch.
Morrison stands at 6’3″ and even has similar hair to his father, who rocked his trademark mullet in he 90’s. Morrison has also carried on his father’s power as well. As Morrison has a knockout victory in 13 of his 14 pro victories. Despite being 28, he remains a good prospect. It’s not the age you are, it’s the miles you have, and Morrison has been unscathed through 16 pro bouts.
If you’re looking for Morrison’s next appearance however, you’ll have to look to Kansas City. June 1st, he’s facing the 13-2 Leroy Childs in arguably the biggest test of his career. Being the co-headliner of a card that’s features the likes of Shane Mosley Jr. ok the undercard has garnered Morrison much attention going into this bout.
However, win, lose, or draw, Morrison remains one of the more intriguing prospects at heavyweight. With so many incredible championship matchups in the near future, it’ll be interesting to see if the young boxer can work his way into any big matchups in 2019.
